With the unveiling of the new range of Bear compound bows for the 2020 season the company has introduced us to the new EKO cam. This cam sits on the new Status EKO from the Legend Series as well as on the Divergent EKO from the Main Line.

The EKO Cam System

Here's the explanation of how it works from Bear Archery...

The new EKO Cam system uses a 3-track modular 2 cam system to create Equalized Kinetic Orientation (EKO) which results in perfect cam synchronization. The tracks are designed so that cam lean is eliminated to improve the consistency of its performance.

With up to 90% let off, the EKO Cam System allows the user to pick their preferred let off with four different positions at 75%, 80%, 85%, or 90% at each draw length without sacrificing performance. The EKO Cam System uses a rotating module for draw length adjustment and can be made without the use of a bow press.

The Make-Up of the 2020 Line

In all there are 18 bows that make up the Bear Archery compound bow line-up for the 2020 season, 5 in the Legend Series and 13 in the Main Line.

Of these bows, there are 2 new bows in the Legend Series: the Status EKO and the Paradox HC plus a further 5 new bows in the Main Line, namely the Divergent EKO, Rambo: Last Blood, Royale, Paradox and Trace HC.

The Perception returns as the high speed hunting bow with the Kuma 30 again named by the company as the flagship bow of the range with a more compact frame at a great price.

The entire range of bows that comprise the 2020 line-up have been listed below complete with a full description of each bow’s features and specifications. Further details about all of the products in the Bear range can be found by visiting the Bear Archery website.

2020 Bear Archery Compound Bows

Legend Series

Bear Perception

Shoot Through Hunting Bow

The Perception compound bow once again heads the list in 2020 as it did last season. It is part of the Legend Series of bows and has the very distinctive shoot-through design. This is a significant new concept in that it is the first design that has been built into the compact hunting bow frame.

The new wide platform provides strength and stability as a platform that minimizes torque. The load is spread across the entire riser which is made from 7075 aircraft grade aluminum that uses BearCage machining.

The bow is powered by the H18 Hybrid cam system that is notable for its efficient operation and ability to generate significant speed. It features the Dial Draw modules which allows draw length adjustment in 0.5” increments without the need for a bow press.

The bow has Max Preload Quad Limbs that are attached to the riser by machined aluminum limb pockets. The result is an even spread of the load over the entire limb surface for a more efficient performance.

Another feature of the bow is the Roller HingeGuard which is an enhancement to the original HingeGuard with roller bearings working at key contact points to reduce friction.

Noise and vibration reducing features are also included on the bow such as Speed Nocks, SonicStops and ShockWaves. Each of these perform a vibration dampening role to help ensure that it is as quiet and smooth as possible.

This is a bow that will work equally effectively as a hunting bow or for the 3D shooter. It is available in Badlands Approach, RealTree Edge, Veil Alpine, and Iron finishes.

The bow has an IBO speed rating of 350 fps and has been released with an MSRP of $1499.99.

Bear Kuma 30

2020 Flagship Bow

Still the flagship hunting bow of the range, the Kuma 30 continues to provide power and speed while providing a comfortable feel in the smooth draw and release. It was added to the Kuma range last year as a high performance bow built with all of the features of the original Kuma bows, but packaged into a shorter axle-to-axle frame that is also lighter.

The bow is extremely fast while remaining smooth and forgiving making it a particularly comfortable shooting experience.

Features of the bow include the BearCage riser that eliminates flex while ensuring structural integrity. The MaxPreLoad Quad Limbs and Bear Trap Limb Pocket means strength while maintaining an evenly distributed load for greater shot efficiency. The Roller HingeGuard, ShockWaves and SonicStops are all added for vibration and shock control for a particularly smooth shot.

The bow is available in Realtree Edge, Veil Alpine, One Nation Midnight and Iron finishes. It has an IBO rating of 345 fps and is released with an MSRP of $899.99.

Bear Status EKO

Highly Customizable Hunting Bow

As has been pointed out at the top of the page, the new Status EKO features new technology that makes it possible to change the let-off of the bow to one of four settings. It can be done without affecting the bow’s draw length or poundage.

The bow operates in a way that cam synchronization can be achieved to eliminate cam lean. It uses a Spiral Cable Track so that the cable load is brought closer to the center of the cam.

An Align Lok level is located within the riser and can be used in conjunction with any bow sight to align the second and third axis levels.

The bow can also be set up with a choice of 2 hand grips and includes a limb stop for a rock-solid back wall. There are SonicStops dual string suppressors to eliminate noise and vibration as well as speed nocks to further performance.

It is available in a choice of the following finishes: Realtree Edge, Veil Alpine, One Nation Midnight, Veil Stoke and Iron.

The bow has an IBO speed of 344 fps and has been given an MSRP of $999.99.

Bear Rambo: Last Blood

Power and Comfort

The Rambo: Last Blood bow has been released for the 2020 season with a limited edition limb graphic, red cams, and a custom red and black string and cables to commemorate the movie.

The bow is built strong and fast but in such a way that the weight is kept to a minimum while still maintaining a great deal of strength.

It uses the Bear Cage machining technique with a 1” thick forged riser that has been hollowed out to reduce weight. This gives the bow a great deal of rigidity to prevent side to side flex around which the power is produced without losing accuracy.

Other features on the bow include the BearTrap Limb Pocket which combines strength from the metal pocket with a zero-tolerance boot. Also, the Max Preload Quad Limbs distribute load evenly and the hybrid cam system provides that power build up.

The sound suppression and vibration dampening is done by Shockwaves limb dampening, Sonicstops to eliminate string vibration and Speed Nocks which also reduce string vibration.

There is a choice of grips with either the Narogrip or the Versagrip available.

The bow is available in the Iron finish and it has been released with an MSRP of $899.99.
