The perfect hunting day pack is going to be slightly different for every hunter depending on your needs and the type of situation you are going to predominantly hunt in. However, there are some basic features that are going to be important no matter what you're hunting and where you're going to be doing it. We provide a list of high quality day packs that give you the opportunity to choose one that could be the best hunting day pack for your personal requirements.

Day Packs Reviewed

We have put together a number of hunting day packs from the most well known and respected brands and given them a full comparison to come up with the packs that might be considered the best in their field.

The pack has to be versatile and lightweight, comfortable and stealthy. Another key quality that I think all hunters will appreciate is a day pack that offers a high level of durability. It needs to stand up to the rigors of a hard day in the field.

We have made an attempt to compare similar types of packs and this should result in a good understanding of which model will be good value no matter whether you want large capacity, light weight or a low price.

However, because each of those qualities are important in a quality pack, we have listed all day packs along with their storage capacity (measured in cubic inches), their weight and their price. Further down the page is a brief review of each day pack and, where available, a video review that allows you to take a closer look at the features of each.

What To Look For In A Day Pack

  • Size - for some people the larger the pack, the better. Others prefer slightly smaller capacity as long as it is well laid out and consists of pockets that are of a size that will allow you to store your essential pieces of equipment.

  • Number of Pockets - the number of small pockets that are located at strategic and convenient points around the pack is a very important factor and one that will help you, the hunter, stay organized. It will allow smaller items to be stored and retrieved quickly and with a minimum of fuss.

  • Price - this can be a tricky one because some packs are going to cost significantly more than others. But the more expensive brands are generally the ones that can be relied on to last for far longer than the cheaper ones which will work out to be cheaper over the longer term.

  • Material - pay close attention to the material quoted as being used for the construction of the packs. Some are soft and quiet which will give you stealth benefits. Others are made from fabric that will prevent ripping or failure at the seams.

  • Weight - the majority of hunters are going to appreciate a day pack that is light in weight. Some manufacturers are starting to produce a line of ultra-light packs that are also providing significant durability.

So, here are the contenders for what we consider some of the best hunting day packs available today. Some provide the ability to carry weapons to leave  you hands free, others come with hydration reservoirs and still more are small and lightweight. Use the list and the brief reviews to help decide which will best suit your needs.
